NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE CONDUCT OF THE

FIRE SAFETY DRILL

The fire safety drill, titled "Sa Pag-iwas sa

Sunog, Hindi ka Nag-iisa," took place on May

24, 2023, at 10:00 a., in the Masaguitsit-

Banalo National High School Covered Court.

The drill was coordinated by Mr. Edmundo G.

Bukas Jr., the School MDDRM Coordinator,

and featured speakers FO1 Jomari Q. Suayan

and FO1 John Denver B. Malarasta from the

Bureau of Fire Protection R4A Lobo Fire

Station. The event was attended by teachers,

other school personnel, and students from

grades 8 and 10, as the other grade levels were

engaged in modular distance learning.

The objective of the seminar was to equip

participants with basic knowledge about the

nature and behavior of fire and to increase

their awareness of fire safety, ensuring they

are better prepared in the event of a fire

incident. The drill aimed to prevent panic and

educate the participants on various aspects of

fire safety, including locating fire exits,

evacuating buildings safely and orderly,

recognizing fire alarm sounds, assembling

at designated evacuation areas, and

extinguishing fires during the incipient

stage.

The course outline for the seminar

included the following topics:

Nature and Behavior of Fire: Participants

were educated about the characteristics

and behavior of fire, including its ignition

sources, fuel types, and fire spread.

Classes of Fire: The different classes of

fire, such as Class A (ordinary

combustibles), Class B (flammable liquids

and gases), Class C (electrical fires), Class

D (combustible metals), and Class K

(cooking oil and fat fires), were discussed

to provide participants with a

comprehensive understanding of fire

types.

NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE CONDUCT OF THE

FIRE SAFETY DRILL

Stages of Fire: The stages of fire progression,

namely incipient, growth, fully developed, and

decay, were explained to enable participants to

recognize the severity of a fire and respond

accordingly.

Methods of Heat Transfer: Various methods of

heat transfer, including conduction, convection,

and radiation, were discussed to help

participants understand how fire spreads and

identify potential fire hazards.

Parts and Use of Fire Extinguisher: Participants

were trained on the different parts of a fire

extinguisher and how to operate it effectively.

The types of fire extinguishers suitable for

different classes of fire were also explained.

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG): Safety

precautions and proper handling techniques for

LPG, a commonly used fuel source in households,

were emphasized to prevent fire incidents related

to gas leaks or mishandling.

Fire Drill: The practical aspect of the seminar

involved students actively participating in a

hands-on drill. They were taught how to

manually put out a fire in a petroleum tank and

how to use a fire extinguisher to extinguish fires

during the incipient stage.

The fire safety drill was conducted successfully,

with active participation from the attendees.

Students learned valuable skills and knowledge

regarding fire safety, enabling them to be more

prepared in the event of a fire incident. The drill

contributed to fostering a culture of safety within

the school community and ensuring the

well-being of all members.

Overall, the "Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi

ka Nag-iisa" fire safety drill was a significant

event in promoting fire safety awareness and

preparedness among the participants. The

knowledge gained during the seminar and the

hands-on drill will serve as valuable tools to

help prevent and respond effectively to fire

incidents in the future.
