The Oregon Educator Licensure Assessments (ORELA) is a series of exams designed to ensure that prospective teachers in the state of Oregon possess the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively teach in the state's public schools. These tests are created and managed by the Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) and Pearson VUE. The ORELA exams are used as part of the state's teacher certification process.

Step 1: Eligibility and Application

To be eligible to take an ORELA exam, you must first be enrolled in or have completed a state-approved teacher education program. You can apply for the ORELA exam through the official Pearson VUE website. You will be required to create an account and fill out an application form, detailing your educational background and teaching aspirations. Once your application is accepted, you will receive an authorization to test.

Step 2: Scheduling the Exam

After receiving your authorization to test, you can schedule your ORELA exam. This is done through the Pearson VUE website as well. You can choose from a variety of testing centers located throughout Oregon and even in some other states. The website will provide you with a list of available dates and times. Choose the one that best fits your schedule.

Step 3: Taking the Exam

On the day of your scheduled exam, make sure to arrive at the testing center early. You will need to bring a valid photo ID and your authorization to test. The exams are computer-based and the time allotted for each test varies depending on the specific test. After completing the exam, you will receive a preliminary score report immediately.

The ORELA exams can be taken at Pearson VUE testing centers, which are located throughout the state of Oregon and in some other states. To find a testing center near you, use the "Find a test center" tool on the Pearson VUE website.
